I am writing to report a critical issue regarding the playback of 360° videos on YouTube. By default, the field of view (FOV) is set far too close, which degrades the viewer experience — the videos appear overly zoomed in and lose much of their immersive quality. On desktop, it is possible to manually pull back the FOV by about 20% using the mouse, with no noticeable loss of quality. However, this adjustment should be applied automatically by default. As things stand, every 360° video starts far too close, which negatively impacts the overall presentation and the audience’s perception of my content. What I am requesting:Please adjust the default FOV for 360° videos so that playback begins at a wider, more natural perspective.Ideally, integrate a user-facing option in the YouTube player to adjust the FOV directly, especially on desktop where this is technically more feasible. This change would greatly improve the viewing experience for immersive content, highlight the hard work of 360° creators, and reduce issues of blur or pixelation that are caused by the current default zoom level.Thank you for considering this important request. I am available to provide further details or to assist with testing if needed.Sincerely,
