I have been trying to login to a GMail account that I haven't logged into into for over a year. When I attempt to login, I give a correct password (which I know is correct otherwise it would stop me before the email verification step), a correct captcha, and I give a correct email verification code(sent to the recovery email account). It then prompts me for a mobile text messsage verification. When I type in my phone number it tells me: "Too many unsuccessful login attempts" without even sending me a verification text, even though everything I entered was correct up to this point. Google then sends me an email to my recovery email account triumphantly stating "Sign-in attempt was blocked. Someone just used your password to try to sign in to your account. Google blocked them." No Google, it was me, it was always me. I'm guessing that the last time I used this account, I was using a VPN, so Google is seeing me logging in from a different location, and is blocking it. It's frustrating because everything I have entered is correct, but it is not letting me in anyway.
To summarize here is everything I have tried to no avail(ideas gathered from various sources):
- I have given a correct password
- I have given a correct captcha
- I have given a correct verification code over email
- I have used icognito mode
- I have tried without using a VPN
- I have tried with using a VPN to place my login location in the city where I last successfully logged in.
- I have waited at least 48 hours between login attempts.
- No one else is trying to log in (I only get log in alerts when I am attempting to log in)
- I tried logging in from a different device (2 difference PCs and a mobile device in the same house)
- I tried to chat with a rep via Google Drive support (because they wont let you talk to a service rep for email). They could do nothing for me except recommend the things above, which I already tried.
This has been going on for weeks.
