I can't manage the followers of my Instagram account any more. The list of followers remains in a "loading" state where the profiles are shown with placeholders only. Here's what I see:
Instead of these placeholders, I should see ~120 followers and there should be a remove button on the right. I have successfully removed ~35 followers yesterday.
How do I manage my followers again?
I have tried:
- clearing the instagram.com and facebook.com cookies in Firefox.
- logging in with a new private window in Firefox.
- managing followers in the Android app. However, I see a never-ending circular progress bar there.
- I checked my account status. I have 4 green checkmarks, although the German text contradicts itself in one point (German: "Dein Konto verstößt gegen unsere Richtlinien. Vielen Dank, dass Du unsere Gemeinschaftsstandards einhältst. Aktuell besteht keine Gefahr, dass Du den Zugriff auf Dein Konto verlierst.", English (translated by me): "Your account violates our policies. Thank you for respecting our community guidelines. Currently there's no risk of losing access to your account.")
- I checked for a removal limit. A Reddit user says"You can remove up to 300 followers a day with a delay between each session." and Instagram"Established Accounts: You can safely unfollow up to 200 accounts per day, with an hourly limit of 60.". My account exists since 2020, I hope it's not considered as being "new". Of course "unfollow" is not the same as "remove follower".
- I checked Instagram remove follower help which says "If your account is set to private, you can remove people from your followers list ...", however, it worked with a public account yesterday as well. I can't easily switch to a private account, because it's a professional account and I would need to switch to a personal account first.
