A recent update to WhatsApp Web has added a "clear conversation history" keyboard shortcut, bound to Ctrl+Del.

This unfortunately clashes with the common text manipulation "delete following word" on Ctrl+Del, deeply ingrained in my muscle memory.
(Settings gear icon → Keyboard shortcuts; this seems to be view only)
WhatsApp version is reported as "Version 2.3000.1021410019".
Is there a way to restore "delete next word" functionality to Ctrl+Del? A signpost to the intended configuration, userscript, xdotool, window manager rebinding, or similar would be acceptable; others considered. I am running GNU/Linux with WhatsApp loaded in Firefox running in i3wm. Web searches turn up various "how to use WhatsApp shortcuts / formatting / etc" articles and videos, none of which looked promising.
