I'm trying to build a google sheet that will give me the prorated rent for various options:
- when lease is less than a month within the same month
- when lease is less than a month crossing over two months
- when the lease is full months (start on the first of one month andends on the last of another month)
- when the lease starts on a random day and ends on a random day(of different months)
Here's what I'm expecting the sheet to look like:
| Column A | Column B | Column C |
|---|---|---|
| Start Date | 4/7/2025 | Manually entered start date of lease |
| End Date | 8/18/2025 | Manually entered end date of lease |
| Rent | $1,200 | Manually entered monthly rent |
| Daily Rent start month | $40 | Rent / # of days in start month |
| # days in start month rented | 23 | Last day of start month - start date |
| Prorate for start Month | $920 | # days rented * daily rent |
| Daily Rent end month | $38.71 | Rent / # of days in start month |
| # days in end month rented | 18 | = day in End Date |
| Prorate end Month | $696.78 | # days rented * daily rent |
| Remaining full months | 3 | # of full months in rental time (in this example, it would be May, June, July) |
| Total Rent | $5216.78 | = Prorate for first month + prorate for last month + (full months * rent) |
The issue that I'm having is that I can get it to do everything described above or each of the different scenarios bulleted above, but I can't make it work for ALL of them, and I don't want multiple tables or sheets.
Thanks.
