Cognito Forms - question from a new user

I am new to Cognito Forms and have limited computer skills. I need it to create a form for my business to enable users to register for aclass from a choice of dates, each of which has limited numbers, and count down the numbers as people book.

I need to allow a user to do the following:

  1. Choose a date from a list of dates (I can do this bit)
  2. Tell me how many people will be attending, and their names (I can do this bit too)
  3. Take payment (I can do this bit too)

The issue: I need the form to show the user how many places are available for each date on the list ie "15th March - 4 places remaining". If they then book 2 places for 15th March the form must then show "15th March - 2 places remaining".

I have asked the good people at Cognito Forms if this is possible. They replied very promptly saying:

"This can be done by setting up a Choice with options that have a quantity limit set up on them in a Repeating Section or by setting up a Calculation field with a quantity limit set up in a Repeating Section. Both ways will let you restrict the number of tickets or people can sign up to the number set as the quantity limit.

You can then set up a Calculation field that will target either the Choice field or the Calculation field and use the '_QuantityRemaining' to display the amount remaining after the current entry is submitted"

Sadly, I can't get my head round how Repeating Sections work, which probably means I am not clever enough to join this forum. I'm therefore seeking someone willing to spend some time on this for a fee, and hope that sort of suggestion is acceptable here. If not I am sure I will be told - it would be nice if someone could point me to where I can find the help that I need if here is not that place.

David
