How was this contact - not in the TO or CC fields - injected in my gmail reply-to field by this email?

EDIT: I'm accessing gmail over a browser from a computer rather than over a smartphone.

I recently received a Text/SMS concurrently with an email. The body of the email was empty; it's subject was the body of the Text/SMS I received.

E.g. SMS/Text from +91xxxxxxxxxx to +91yyyyyyyyyyText Body reads something like "I need you to call me".Email subject reads the same as the text body "I need you to call me".

The email has the sender's email address. The body of the email is empty except for the stock "Sent from my iPhone" footer.

When I started to reply to the email, in addition to the sender's email address an unknown contact like "user-sc.1268503743.oemjgdbhdpjmenkpgdja-myemailaddress@poi.apache.org" was listed in the reply-to contacts. This string "user-sc..." also does not appear in the original body (which includes the MIME Parts and all).

I'm at a loss to comprehend what has happened here.

How was this email address created when it is not someone I know and is also not a part of the TO/CC fields in the email received? Has gmail been compromised?
