I need to automatically put the date only, no time, in column 1 when notes are entered in column 12 [closed]

I need to automatically put in the date only (so I can use it for filtering and pivots) without time attached, in column 1 when notes are entered in column 12. It also shouldn't update or change the date when the notes are edited.
