How do multiple actions within a Gmail filter work?

I filter incoming emails with specific "from" addresses with 2 actions.

1. forward to another email address and
2. delete it

It doesn't work. Does the filter do the multiple actions in order (top to bottom)? IE forward, then delete it? Or just delete it?

Or must I create a separate filter for each action?
