Html Meta 'viewport-fit' what is the difference between "auto" and "contain"? [closed]

I'm trying to write a mobile-friendly webapp taking advantage of as much screen as it can.

When looking at the spec of viewport-fit I can't understand the difference between "auto" (the default) and "contain".

Any clue?
