I have a 25 year old Hotmail account where some of my email is still delivered. In recent months I keep getting spam from seemingly the same sender.
In the Hotmail inbox, I can't seem to actually see the senders email address which is my first point of wonder. Why have Microsoft chosen to design the interface so that it is possible to conceal the sender address? This issue is only appearing with the series of spam mails from this particular sender. Regular emails show up with a sender address as usual.
My secont point of wonder is, how come Microsoft don't manage to stop this series of relatively easy to spot spam? The issue has been ongoing for maybe six months, and the mails are quite clearly spam messages. All of them revolve around one of maybe five possible themes, and all of them contain numerous links to the same suspicious URL (srednuas at co.uk, probably Saunders backwards, I imagine). I have repeatedly reported the emails as spam or phishing, but they just keep appearing in my inbox.
I do understand that Microsoft probably doesn't prioritize its free Hotmail service any longer, but shouldn't a company like MS provide basic security measures on this platform and prevent blatant spam? And shouldn't repeated spam reportings be taken seriously?
And finally, has anyone had similar experiences? Have you managed to have the problem fixed? Or has everyone just abandoned Hotmail decades ago?
