Someone needs to STOP just reading the question title and forwarding it to some stock answer about recovering an account or resetting password and READ AND UNDERSTAND THE QUESTION DETAILS WHICH AREN'T COVERED BY IT. THIS IS A SPECIFIC PROBLEM/ISSUE/QUESTION, NOT SOME GENERAL HOW-TO. JFC!
The password was temporarily forgotten, then misled into resetting to a dead address, then remembered; the account pre-dates cell phone requirements, and I'm supposed to be asked questions about the account to establish ownership but am not; on clicking "Try Another Way," I'm just told I didn't provide enough info without being asked for any. google's "Help" pages goes on about this, offering advice about how to best answer the questions they ask, etc., but they're not asking them, provide no apparent starting point for doing so except the "Try Another Way." Entering the properly formatted password tells me my e-mail has recently changed, says if I still use the alternate address to enter it and receive a code, but offers NO OPTION IF IT'S NOT USED.
I know the LOGISTICS of recovering an account, where and what to click, -- it's pretty clear and right there that a sea urchin could do it -- but google isn't responding.
Reactivate, re-open the original question(s) and bump it to where someone can answer it.
