Hi Guys im wondering if someone can please give me some advise. I am new to Arduino buti want to read my Victron MPPT Data on the tx and rx pins. if i connect it pin2 and 8 (SoftwareSerial) and open serial monitor i can see no data or text not sure why this happenson a blank sketch it printsout as seen below.

on my Arduino all i want to do is take the ->V ->i etc and print the value as a voltage or current to serial monitor i have been trying for a month with diffrent sketches numerous videos on serial data etc and i dont get how this works. my arduino experience started out well but now im hitting a wall i cant move past i am not sure if its right to say that V OR I OR H22 ETC is a char and then the data values will vary float or string etc. if someone can please assist me or nudge me in the right direction i would appreciate it
