I experienced a weird error just now in a Google Sheets file.
I have a cell (A10) that is simply linking to another cell in the same sheet (linking to A2).
In A2 a value of 1000 is manually entered, and then the same value is displayed in A10.
But just before, A10 was blank, and had no value in it (I did not display 0 or an error, the cell was simply not showing anything). And the SUM formula that sums A10 together with other cells did not take any value from A10.
If I clicked cell A10 and clicked F2 to open the formular editor, the formula line showed =A2 and it also in a small box showed the correct value of 1000 (which is the value taken from cell A2).
I then clicked enter and the value was gone again and the cell was empty...
I tried to refresh with F5 and I also tried to close the google sheet and open it again, but the cell A10 was still empty.
I then tried to delete the formula in A10 and then input the formula again, and then it worked.
This also happened to other cells in the same sheet and I have previously experienced this error (I can’t remember, but I think it was in the same Google Sheets file).
For me this is a critical error in Google Sheets, as suddenly formulas that has been working are not showing any value. And a user will properly not discover this error, as Google Sheets did not give any error, it just did not include the value...
Is there a solution for this?
A note: This spreadsheet is part of a model where I have two spreadsheets, that are linking data back and forth between the two spreadsheets. The actual sheet and cells where the error happened did not have any reference or dependency to linked cells to the other spreadsheet, but I do not know if this linking between spreadsheets can introduce some form of complexity that sometimes causes Google Sheets to fail.
