Since a while ago, LinkedIn insists on recommending that I follow Bill Gates, the co-founder of LinkedIn's parent company Microsoft. The interface offers no obvious way to hide the "Add to your feed" ad box, nor to reject specific recommendations.
This is a hilarious failure of its recommending system, as it ought to be easy to find out that FSF/FSFE followers are not likely to adore Bill Gates. Either Microsoft's surveillance is worse than I thought, or the recommendations are supremely stupid, or they just suggest Bill Gates to nearly everyone.
Is there any statistic or research to find out how many are exposed to a recommendation to follow Bill Gates? Maybe from something like the AdObserver browser extensions?
