When I want to change or remove my phone number in my Gmail, it brings me to a verification page for that number which I no longer have

Gmail - I now realized that the phone number recorded in my gmail is an old number that I no longer have. Although I am able to enter my gmail using my password, when I come to the Personal Info to want to change or remove this phone number, it brings me to a verification page that wants to send a verification number to that phone which I no longer have. When I click other verification, it is still showing only this one method. How do I resolve this? I would like to remove this phone number which is no longer with me and add a new phone number. Thanks.
