In Facebook how do I know whether he had sent me a friend request or I had sent his friend request

For a Facebook friend who had already become my friend how do I know which event is true in between these two exclusive events -

• he had sent me a friend request and I had accepted it, or
• I had sent her a friend request, and he had accepted it?
