Forward meeting requests

I have a (non-Gmail) email address. I also have a Google account associated with that email address, because I need it to use Google services on my Android devices. I don't use Google Calendar, because I already have a calendar.

Now, when a Gmail user sends me a meeting request, it's automatically added to my Google Calendar (which I don't use, see above). I now have two options:

  • Disable E-Mail notifications for my Google Calendar. This is what I had so far, because (see above) I don't want to use Google Calendar and just tried to disable as much as possible. However, this makes Google just silently drop the meeting request the user wanted to send to me.
  • Enable E-Mail notifications for my Google Calendar. Yeah, yet another unused web service that I need to manage! Honestly, my meetings are none of Google's business.

What I really want is:

  • Tell Google to "pretend that I don't have a Google account", and, if a gmail user sends me a meeting invite, just forward it as a standard iCalendar e-mail that I can accept in the mail/calendar client of my choice, like everyone else does.

Is there a way to do that?
