Persistent timevalue(now()) [duplicate]

I am using the following formula in a column of cells:

`=if(XXnn="";"";timevalue(now()))`

(nn according to the row XX to the column).

This enters the time correctly as a value is entered in the relevant cell.

However, when entering a value in any other cell in the sheet, the time value already entered is then also changed to the timevalue(now()).

I see from this resource that the (NOW) function is volatile but does anyone have a work around to suggest?

How can one use this formula so that it is persistent and doesn't change when another cell is accessed?
