In the past few days, Google Chat has started popping up a black banner any time that an unread item is available. Because of the implementation of the banner, when I select a chat room the whole Chat page shifts down to make room for the banner and ends up selecting text where I clicked, as though I had dragged across the text.
This only occurs in the Chat instance that I access via a Chrome shortcut. I don't want to access it via normal browser link because it gets lost in a sea of browsers and browser tabs. The Windows app is quirky, so that's out.
Just want to stop the gChat banners. Is there an easy solution?
