I am the Gsuite admin for my company. A departing user was scheduled to have company gmail suspended for 12 months before complete cancelation. I suspended the account but then was directed to give the user more time to complete current business dealings.
I reinstated the company gmail account, reset the user's password, and sent the user a temp password confirmation email.
When the user clicked the link in the confirmation email, instead of being directed to a login screen to change their password to something only known to them, the user is presented with an error message: unable to update admin password, contact your administrator.
This user is not an admin of any systems.
As a workaround, I set up recipient mapping with my admin gmail address as the alternate gmail account to receive mail sent to this user. However, when I immediately sent a test email to the company gmail, it never arrived at my admin account.
Why can't this user's password be reset? And what is preventing recipient mapping from forwarding mail from the user's company gmail account to my admin gmail account?
