I am helping a relative of mine (Ben) login to their account. Ben's account is two factor enabled but Ben didn't save the backup codes. We did a account recovery. Facebook emailed Ben the reset code. We entered the code in to facebook and reset the password.
We tried to login with the new password but we were asked for the two factor 6 digit code that facebook sent to Bens phone. But Ben is not logged in with facebook on any device except Messenger on his phone.
Surely Facebook knows Ben is the account owner because Ben has access the same email account that his facebook account is registered under? Can't facebook disable the two factor authentication? Which is the only thing preventing Ben from logging in.
